This chapter charts out the life story of The Honourable Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, illustrated with rare images of her, including a delightful pictures of the future Queen Mother at the ages of two and nine (the latter, used on the stamp opposite, is shown in the book as the original A4 size photograph)
Also featured are photographs of her wedding to The Duke of York, future King George VI. |

The War Years demonstrated that the Royal Family took close the heart the plight of the nation, and the stamps from that era depict the King and Queen visiting London's defences and shelters, and inspecting bomb damage (including at Buckingham Palace).
